I think you will be impressed, not only by this jam but all of his stuff. Has a melencholy sound though so be ready for that lol.
Hello Michael, I am self taught started when I was 9 and now 23 years later I have found myself as one of your many wonderful students. Though I am a vary capable guitar player and singer I could never really understand the theory side of music and I just started your lessons ( I began at the beginning) and the first two theory videos did what the other 15 or more attempts at learning theory did not do, you gave me the key I was always searching for to unlock the entire fretboard. Thank you so much for the work you do it is noble and much appreciated I look forward to getting deeper into the lessons. I found you through your Youtube reactions and I was hooked, the way you break down the music really gave me a new way of approaching the music and the guitar so I would be forever in your debt if you could react/ break down this amazing Skip James tune I have figured out a couple of his other tunes but this one eludes me much to my dismay because his style is amazing and his vocals are the most haunting out of all the old blues pickers. Hope you and the family are safe during these unsure times keep making videos and thank you again for revealing to me the mysteries of the fretboard.
Hello Michael, I heard you say you wanted to review some more funkadelic. I am sure most people are familiar with Maggot Brain and Eddie Hazel's classic solo, but I don't think many have heard this live version off the One Nation Under a Groove album as this album is not on most streaming services. Its a Maj to Min vamp but the power that this track has with the full band behind the solo is on another level. I can't listen without tearing up. No video but I think this deserves a review for the bands ability to fall deep into the pocket and of course the solo, which is done by Michael Hampton in this version. 1978. Also if you can share your view on the P-funk shows you been to in the past. Thanks! Funk is its own reward. Peace n Love.
I took a couple of lines from an old anon. blue grass song and wrote the rest of the lyrics as well as the music. Unfortunately I don't have a kit in my studio so the drums are samples as well as the horns. Everything else is me - guitars, bass vocals... I would love to hear feedback, it's not quite there yet but I feel it's close. Birks
One of Austin's finest! Ollie Steck on trumpet is so fun to watch live.
Hey Michael, I finally got a little practice in as I have been struggling to relearn the guitar after years of just "messing around". Hammering on Lesson 2 Octave Shapes, I used C# and F# to work on, with inspiration from one of my favorite Zappa tunes, from the 1988 instrumental album of guitar excerpts from live shows, simply titled "Guitar". Following you for a couple months now, you've mentioned not necessarily "getting" Zappa yet, but I think I have the key to unlock that door. A tasteful 12-bar blues in C#, with an opening lick and 10 (ish) count single note that gives me goose bumps every time. By all means, pre-screen before recording an "ice cold" reaction. Thanks man!
Would like to get your break down on some funky stuff for a change :)
I mention Julian Lage on the YouTube chat a few weeks ago. Here is a 3:30 video from the same listening room where he was playing βIβll be seeing youβ in Los Angeles. Julian was a child prodigy who performed at the Grammys at age 12 and was a member of the Stanford Jazz Workshop at age 15. He has been nominated for multiple Grammys and has awards and degrees from numerous highly accredited institution. Simply stated, heβs a guitar genius and his command of all levels of the instrument are stunning to me. Iβm enjoying the Cornell 77β videos (leave room for that Dancinβ in the Street) but if you have under 4 minutes to spare give this a listen. All the best.

Tim Reynolds kills this guitar solo and the whole band is pumping him up. Dave gives Tim a nod and a smile at the end of the solo. Also this song is incredible live!
Hey Michael. It was awesome to speak with you via the YouTube chat a few weeks ago. So hereβs a little clip of my soloing over a loop I made. I feel like I got all the ingredients (tone, instruments, understanding of structure and a good ear). If you would, take a listen and tell me From your perspective one thing you believe I should focus on improving. Thanks. All the best. Lucky Gallops/ Brad Lackey
Great Phil Keaggy tune. Les Paul and a Strat. Can't go wrong with his one.
Great song with tasty Leads by David Gilmore...
