Hi Michael, do you know Tom Misch yet?
I think he is one of the most talented producers/musicians out there.
In this video he plays a 'tiny' set of 3 songs and I would love to see you listen and break down the second song: 'I Wish' (starts at 4:34). Whole set is awesome though.

Michael, you gosh darn legend! I know you dig Shakey Graves...These guys are pretty solid! Americana Folk... Really think you will dig the Lyrics, guy has a KILLER voice too. Somewhat simple guitar playing + banjo, but really beautiful and picks up towards the end. The Outro makes gives me CHILLS!

Ok- so I'm a pre-1980s Dead Head, as far as, listening goes even though my first show wasn't until 1/11/79. Jerry's playing was just superior to me than the post-1980. Just my opinion.
The Jerry Garcia Band hasn't gotten any love on here. I saw them over 100x between '79-'95. They were always good, but '80-'81 are my favorite years, for the most part, because of the energy he brought. Don't get me wrong- of course, there were great shows and years and are exceptions to my rule. Expressway to my Heart, Lonely Ave. '72, Keystone '73 shows, Tough Mama '76, Gomorrah/Dixie Down/Mission '78, etc.

The Tangled Up In Blues from 1981 really illustrate what I mean by energy. They were fast and powerful.
He played them a little too slow for me pre-'79 and later slowed them down way too much for me. His soloing is masterful and the closing solo is as hard rock-ish as Jerry got. Good stuff.
I'd love to see what other people have to say and post as far as JGB goes.

Michael, you said you loved Julia's voice, so here's another song that is somewhat haunting. They are brother and sister from Australia.

This is a group that slipped under my radar for years, but if you love that classic southern rock sound they are worth a listen.

I know there are plenty of better players (and certainly better singers) out there, but Johnny Marr was one of the ones that got me into guitar in the first place. I definitely feel like his solo material, and old work with The Smiths, is worth a listen.

Martin Sexton's voice is incredible and his playing seems effortless. I know you're on a singer-songwriter kick right now, and he will not disappoint. He's the epitome.

Really enjoy Jackie Greene's take on this old Traffic tune. I saw him play with Phil and Friends at Bonnaroo 2008 and loved his playing and vocals, but kind of forgot about him until recently. He is extraordinarily versatile, simple and passionate, which is inspiring as someone who likes to mess around with a number of instruments. Sound and production on this one is great, and a solo from each guitarist showcases some different styles. Thanks!
