I’ve wanted to suggest a Jeffrey Martin video for a while but could not decide on which one. His ability to evoke emotion, and paint a picture with words and melody is something to behold. His songs transport you into these small worlds where you feel like you are there.

“Red Station Wagon” off his most recent album is such a great example of his pure raw talent. It is a very powerful song about friendship, growth, and reflecting back on things you see differently now as you have grown older. It still chokes me up on every listen.

He is one of the most honest pure song writers out right now. He is on the same level as Prine and Isbell for me.

Other songs that are in heavy rotation for me are “Sad Blue Eyes” and “Coal Fire”

I really think this one will hit a lot of people, weather you are a musician or a guy that does a lot of overtime turning wrenches. It will pull on your heart.

It's Friday, I'm in a good mood, and the YouTube algorithm delivered me this tasty funk jam this morning so I wanted to share it with you. Let's get the funk out! :)
This song starts out fire and just keeps getting better. This band obviously has practiced together to have all those stops timed so well. The drummer is on point! The lead guitar player really displays some technical ability and then throws in some scat over his playing, so much fun.

Not sure if you done any Noah Kahan before. He's an artist my daughter introduced me to about a year ago that I dig and think you will too. Some nice guitar along with a great voice and some lyrics that I think you'll appreciate. Kinda of a modern take on folk. Have a great one, sir.

Michael, PLEASE help me understand why this sounds and feels like a *perfectly* arranged piece of music. Mrs Green Apple never fails to deliver.

Simple yet deep. This one just feels like it belongs on this page.

Another gem from Marcus King. I love his new album; I can relate to it and isn’t that just what music’s about.
Marcus’s jazz influence really comes through on this, with some tasty 7th chords and a plethora of jazzy blues arpeggio lines that I’d love to be able to master. I’m not there yet, but I’m keeping it in my hands, Michael. Thank you.

Just a dandy of a tune by the one and only Jackson Browne. The fingerpicking is fantastic.

Like me, you love a real tune with real lyrics. He wrote this after his 5 year old daughter asked him about death. As a father to 2 daughters, this song hit hard. Keep up the good work brother.

Howdy Michael,

Oh sure, you know "Eyes," but this seems to be a refreshing take. Full of guitarobatics, tapping, tone cascades! Fascinating to see how the music of the Grateful Dead continues to inspire, mutate, and invigorate. Enjoy!

Cheers,
Brian

I saw Tanner open for Charles Wesley Godwin last year and whether he is singing about love, loss, addiction, or whatever else it may be, he is a songwriter that everyone should be aware of

This is a masterclass in fast picking and singing simultaneously. Would love to see you break this down.

Come gitcha some o' this young heartbreak right here. This is for anyone out there that needs to just sit in the feeling of loss. The only way out is through!

Firstly, since becoming a member of guitar gate back some years ago you have introduced me to many great artists - thank you so much. To support the community thought you should give this young Aussie guitarist a look. From the ‘CGP’ of Tommy Emmanuel, they are producing some great talent down-under and Steph Strings is one of them, please enjoy and continue inspiring us to find new music and get to the next level.

Kind regards

Ivan

The late Steve Goodman was one of the best songwriters that you've never heard of. Plus he is a great acoustic guitarist.

Danny Gatton One of the Best Guitar players in the world. What he does in this video with a beer bottle and towel should say it all. This man invented hybrid picking. Absolutly Amazing. Enjoy!!!

This is a band I've had the pleasure to see in intimate settings a couple times and I would love for the world to see them. Really powerful songwriting and amazing band all around.

Michael,

I've been a Dishwalla fan for years. Very underappreciated band with an AMAZING lead vocalist. Once JR had to leave the band for his son's health, he moved to the UK for his son's care. This is not a video of a technically incredible band, but of a voice and a song. I've been supporting JR for a number of years and recently had him at our home to do a house show. Incredible writer, incredible voice and a beautiful song. I played this at my moms memorial after she passed. I understand if it's not right for a formal reaction video, but wanted you to hear this wonderful guy who is still making music and still having an impact! Lastly, I was at the concert this was filmed at. "So much love..."

Blessings,

Joe

I’ve heard that guitar competed with horns in the early days. It’s nice to hear them coexisting together in this cover.
