59 year old married father of 2 grown children. Day job in IT. Obsessed with Black Sabbath back in high school, slowly transitioning to Heartland Rock (primarily Bruce Springsteen), Blues, and some Alternative (primarily U2). Became obsessed with learning to play guitar in 1983 as a sophomore in college, and played constantly through 1987. In 1988 I began a slow release of the obsession as my obsessions turned to graduate school, marriage, children, playing golf, and my career. Sold everything and didn't touch a guitar after 1995. Now that the kids are grown and out of the house was looking for a hobby and decided to buy a cheap guitar and try to re-learn some basic AC/DC, KISS, and Stones. My have things have changed! Really nice, inexpensive guitars, digital effects, and the internet making it possible to pretty much learn about whatever you want. This has gotten me obsessed in playing again, and this time learning all the things I was never able to learn back in the 80s - like how Keef played Jumping Jack Flash in open tuning, the Edge used delay to sound like that, and how to play songs I wanted to learn without going to a bar and watching the guitar players hands or sitting for hours trying to learn by ear. Attracted to Guitargate due to Michael's great explanations of the theory behind the songs - learning the theory being another thing I've become obsessed with.
