This is an inspired performance of one of Jason Isbell's best songs IMHO. This song has so much place and feel... it transports you to a time that's past with an undercurrent of angst and longing never quite spelled out but absolutely tangible in the lyric lines left to some interpretation and the soundscape that is almost like a good movie soundtrack in its ability to evoke feelings of quiet desperation (and of course his masterful song writing and slide playing skills). [how's that for a run-on sentence :)] Of course, I'm hardly the first to laud Jason Isbell, but for me, this is him and his incredible backing band (including Amanda Shires and Sadler Vaden, each great musicians in their own right) at their best. Would love to see you break this down. J.
