Michael and Guitar Gate friends: I've been going deep on the jam thing lately and am convinced the recent Phish Berkeley shows represent some of the finest of the form! This insane 1 HOUR Tweezer into Simple is pure gold in terms of virtuosic improvisation, crowd connection, and musical exploration. There is A LOT of music in here, so the format may not work for a REACTS Request. Highly recommend anyone give a listen who likes the deep jam thing. Check out around 25 mins and then again for the next segment around 35 mins. We get weird!

I try out a blues in A where I focus on major and minor pentatonics plus playing by ear. I’m enjoying myself a ton, but know it’s pretty sloppy.

@Michael, how do I clean this up?

I attempt a I vi ii V in B flat for Guitar Gate lesson 401.

I attempt a country blues style I IV V using dominant 7th chords.

I noodle over an F major I-vi-ii-V on the loop pedal to wrap up Level 3.

I attempt to go for a 1-6-2-5 in A major. I try to find arpeggios, pentatonics, and the major scale where I can, with a few additions. Lots of flubs still here, which is pretty common at this stage.

Curious for your ideas on how to clean it up—slower practice, metronome, learn the positions?

I play E minor arpeggios, pentatonics, and the full minor scale. I'm getting the main positions down, now would like to begin practicing really connecting the shapes to each other to have more fluidity up and down the neck.

I try to connect arpeggios, pentatonics, and the major scale over this 2-5-1 progression in C major. Here, I attempt to stick to my “closest moves” chord shapes throughout.

Working on major arpeggios over a I IV V loop in C. I'd like to get better at really "choosing" the third or the fifth and searching for those sounds, but glad to be gaining some confidence hearing the root notes of each change.

I'm trying out major and minor arpeggios in positions 2 and 4. Should we use alternate picking when practicing these or sweep picking or some combination of the two?
