Michael...my Maryland brother, I knew I liked you and everything about your teaching the moment I saw you. I just became a member, but have been watching your ReAct videos for about 3 months. I’ve learned more from you in 3 months than I have in 3 yrs or more. Musically, you’ve inspired me in such a major way, but also just in life in general. Alright!...with that necessary piece out of the way, I feel like Willie is such an incredible guitar player and somehow gets overlooked as such. His phrasing, his melodies, unique rhythms have always been so cool to me. He reminds me a little of Billie Holiday the way he approaches his leads.

This is Nightlife. I’m sure you know it, but it’s this particular recording on VH1’s Storytellers that I love more than any. I’ve learned to play it mostly from his son Lucas, but I’ve never figured out this performance of Willie’s and it’s so hard to find. After searching for a couple of years, it popped up a few wks ago.
