I discovered this young man by chance on YouTube. He is from the Toronto Canada area and he is really, really awesome. He has a bunch of really great originals and any of them are worthy of a react request but I thought I would start with the first video I saw of him. Just phenomenal.

I thought I would make this video to help people find the root notes of these power chords more easily instead of counting up from the nut to find each note. This isn't a substitute for memorizing the neck but it will help you find the notes so you can memorize it more quickly and easily.

I buzzed through the chords and honestly I cheated by using bar chords for the B, Bm, Cm, F, Fm, and Gm. I am just used to using those shapes when playing and hitting all the strings. You get a fuller sound because you are using all the strings (or nearly all the string for the B, Bm, and Cm). I would use the open forms of the B or F when playing my ukulele but that only has 4 strings.

I missed sounding a few notes. I was trying to angle the pick so that the guitar wasn't to loud. I live in an apartment building and it is about 10:30 at night. Normally I would use my VOX headphone amp. (These are awesome and only about $30 bucks) so as not to disturb my neighbors but I can't use them for making a video.

As asked, this is the space that I play. It's my living room and I have a table behind the couch with a solid armless chair where I work when working from home and also sit to practice.

I didn't do an introduction video. I have been playing guitar for over 30 years. I am going totally back to basics and watching Mike's videos right from the start. I have primarily taught myself and although I have learned a little music theory I really learned it on piano, which I find is making it a little difficult when I try to apply it to guitar.
