One of this band's best. Highly recommend watching the documentary Dig! that profiles the BJM and Dandy Warhols. Anton Newcombe is an incredibly prolific and talented songwriter that has sort of flow under the radar throughout his career.
Love to see your take on this song!
Seattle Represent! I just signed up for lifetime guitargate, partly as motivation to finally learn how to play one of my two dusty guitars, and also as thanks to you for your analysis and introduction to a lot of great artists. It's been fun to watch you discover/react to a lot of my favorite artists including Tori Amos, Tool, Jason Isbell, Radiohead, etc.
Hey Michael,
I’m completely obsessed with rock music, alternative, metal, all of it. Not many solos or guitar parts in general will stop me in my tracks and make me replay it over and over again. This solo (which starts at 3:25) is not technically amazing, not long, just an absolute perfect solo for the song. Everytime I hear it I have to go back at least 3-4 times to repeat it. I would love to hear a breakdown of why it sounds soooo damn good to my ears.
A New Orleans band, Zita, brings in their jazz training and heavy metal influences to create a unique sound that you can do nothing but bounce to when you listen.
Besides winning Best Alternative Music Album at this years Grammys this year, this group seems to look like are having a blast on stage. The song feels like a driving energy that explodes, and you can tell by the way the crowd react.
Michael, first off thank you for your courses and videos. I have been getting re-inspired to finally pick my guitar back up to start making music again, and learn more about my instrument. Anyway here is a song off of Weens 12 Golden Country Greats, and a great example of the connection between band mates.
Ever since my brother showed me their cover of “Have a cigar” I knew they were on a different level musically than most bands I’ve heard in a long time. Not only do they cover Pink Floyd exceptionally, they also cover Zeppelin like no other. I’m so thoroughly impressed with them, I hope to see a live show of theirs one day. -Sam
