I'll continue on with my all-Canadian suggestions. Awesome tune from Matt Mays, supported by a great band. East coast vibes shine through on this one.

Heavy metal band out of Japan. This song is about the atomic bombings in 1945; it has some really interesting riffs, mood shifts, and solos. Hoping you could break some of those down. Broad strokes.
I was mesmerized by the extraordinary collaboration between Matteo Mancuso and the Joscho Stephan Trio. This video is a testament to the power of music to bring people together and create something truly magical. Thank you Michael for relentless reacts and instructions. You are trully inspiring teacher. Love your website. Happy to be a part of this great community.
Hey Michael - (audio begins at 1'40") I wanted to share Steve Kimock with you, not exactly as a react request, but more as a gift to put in your pocket and take with you when you have the time and inclination and I didn't know how better to do it. He's been my favorite guitarist for a long time now and I don't even know how to put into words why that is. I've listened to this concert at least annually for over 20 years. It's both incredible and very unique. Steve has a way of only ever playing the exactly correct sounds. His tone is perfect. The dude is a wizard. There's some additional poor quality video of the show here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzzX8kRzWao&t=2184s) and the complete show is available to listen to here (https://archive.org/details/skps2002-11-24.shnf). I really hope you find the time to enjoy it. Also, I wanted to say thank you for the work you do. I don't even play the guitar, but your reactions help me to better understand why I love the music I do, and to discover new music I didn't know I'd like. Respect.
Hi Micheal,
The Brad Cox band has been creating some amazing stuff, and this video is awesome. I'd love to hear your thoughts on both the lyrics and the lead guitar. They're an Australian country band with a unique group of musicians. I highly recommend checking out their work, but for now, enjoy this video.
Keep Strumming,
Chris C.
Hello Michael Palmisano and fans,
If you weren't a Marcus King fan before this video, I can certainly guarantee that you will be afterwards! Marcus King has always been one of my favourite artist, however, as his career has progressed I seem to fall back on some of his classics and his renditions of other famous song. Within this video, Marcus's incredible playing on a magnificent vintage tele and amp is accompanied by thunderous vocals and I believe it would be super valuable for you to breakdown how he creates this captivating experience for the audience. Thank you for everything Michael and best wishes for the future,
Warm regards from a massive fan of GuitarGate,
Hugo van den Brink
Great cover of Bob Dylans My Back Pages by the master Carl Verheyen. His solo is technically amazing and tasty as hell. He never ceases to amaze me.
I see a few others have requested this band, but I can't recall you ever reacting to them. They have become one of my favorite bands over the past few years. A lot of people say they are Australia's version of Tool, and while I sort of agree, they definitely have their own thing going on. I don't know if you'll remember me harassing you about reacting to Punch Brothers, but this band has a couple of songs that I could easily see Punch Brothers doing a stripped down version of. They are incredible and worth a listen!
This guys playing is amazing! Know you've had him on channel prior, still worth checking this one out. Love the channel! Keep doing it! Lifetime Member!
Tom Bukovac,
Guthrie Trapp Trio,
Jed Hughes,
Total control.
This song could have been 7 mins long instead of 13, but then every single note and every single tone wouldn't have been 100% intentional. This is a master class in taking a simple song and owning it, making it a part of you, and emoting with intention rather than being theatrical (though Uncle Larry also gives a master class in guitar face).
Enjoy!
I remember watching this on TV back in the day. Jose's solo blew my mind. He goes over the sound hole. I've never been able to get a guitar to do anything like that. Please school us. Please take us to school. Much love.
I've been trying to study some lines from piano players to see how I can translate some of that to the guitar and I somehow came across this track a few weeks ago. I've been obsessed with it every since. I think it's the chord progression that I love so much? What is he doing and why is it so damn catchy?
All right... you've done a few of his... but this is a new one done with a new twist!!!
Having fallen in love with guitar four short years ago, this band has changed the way I see/feel music. The timing, tones and overall feel of not just the instrument, but also the vocals blows me away. And players like Derek keep me wanting to get better.
Just wanted to introduce you to the naysh. American Motor Sports was my favorite album of the year and this was a bonus track off the deluxe version.
This band, along with Mk.Gee, are the most inspiring and exciting artists I've found over the past few years. Wunderhorse has it all. Songwriting, great riffs, and a passion for the music. What more would you want!
The best live version of Peggy-O for me, which has always been a favorite GD song. The way Jerry progresses through the solo is incredible. Hope you enjoy.
I keep coming back to this video. I donβt know much about this guy, but this performance has it all, as well as the great song, the subtleties in the dynamics of his playing and the laid back support band is something to behold.
A nice GD tribute, using one of Jerry's guitars and Phil's bass. Not sure how they acquired them for this, but it is cool.
This is just so spectacular... I mean, come on!
I'd love to see a reaction to this video. A guitar masterclass it is not...but it's a mind-blowing performance nonetheless. The burlesque outfit, the wild hair, her complete control of the crowd (how many times have people bombed on SNL and she just owns the moment), plus insanely catchy hooks--and a few fun guitar leads, too!
Another Isbell masterclass with lyrics that will lock you up emotionally + great musicianship. And video is in black and white which adds to the ethos somehow.
Joe Bonamassa solo on this feels like heβs having a conversation with us the listeners.
I can listen to that solo on repeat
Bill Frisell is one of the greatest guitarist out there. East Meets West is one of those "please play at my funeral" type of albums. This is a slower one but is so good. Please place Shenandoah for me. Dedicated to my ex-wife Shannon <3. Love your stuff Micheal. I'm still here. Keep it truckin. Thanks buddy. Sincerely, Frank
