This video features a wonderful song written and sung by country music legend Billy Joe Shaver and supported by his son Eddy"s tasty rythym and lead guitar parts. I believe if Eddy hadn't died so young (age 30) more people would speak of him amongst the very best guitar players.

Just stumbled upon this guy, he has a unique sound to him in his songs. This song is only guitar playing but he shreds.

Classic Timmy Childers here. Technically a murder ballad with his typical arrangement of brilliant story telling. Definitely one of my favorites!

I'm going to keep on posting about John Martyn until Michael finally submits! Though this one might just have us putting down the guitar to pick up the double bass . . .

This one is worlds beyond me. Michael, thank you for everything that you do. Good luck trying to pick this one apart!

Two greats trading licks! Love the bass player jumping in to respond to Frampton! Gotta do this one, Michael!

This song is an instrumental, hence the song title. This is Colin's Lenny and it left me speechless when I first saw it live during an encore.

You don't get to hear his great singing voice but this arrangement in absolutely incredible and the his TONE is remarkable.

The beauty of this piece is it will be an ice cold listen for almost everyone on here and the musicianship leaves something to be desired.

The song speaks for itself...you WON'T be disappointed!!!

Gov't Mule ripping through "Where's My Mule?" with original bassist, Allen Woody. Enjoy!

This song is about having someone you love to make music with, citing Emmylou and Graham, and Johnny and June in the chorus. It's led by two sisters from Sweden with beautiful harmonies and is a kind of country music that you can love, even if you don't like country music.

To celebrate my favorite bands' new album release today. Would love to hear your thoughts about not only this song, which they have been playing for a while, but the rest of the new material. None of any of my favorite music channels really discuss this band enough.

Love your lessons. You have such a clear way of communicating music theory and I've broken the replay button on many of your videos. I love the reactions you have done for Joscho Stephan and Richard Smith in the past. They're in a band together called the Transatlantic Guitar Trio. The third member is this guy, Rory Hoffman. I won't say more beyond that. Be prepared for a surprise, if you don't know him.

Would love a breakdown of this tune...

Exhilarating performance of "Scoundrel Days" from the 1986 sophomore album, live from the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert.

When you reacted to Waiting Around to Die you mentioned a line in the beginning. The song in the beginning is a Guy Clark song called Old Time Feeling. Guy was a master craftsman of songwriting. He is not a country singer. He writes songs and sings them, heโ€™s Guy Clark. Guy and Townes were also best friends. There is a rumor that Guy and Townes used to go to John Prineโ€™s house to play poker. I hope thatโ€™s true.

Hey Michael!
This video is a bit outside the box for your typical reaction videos, but I think I speak for all heads when I say we'd love to see your take on this work. Bill Orcutt is a legendary avant-garde/experimental guitarist and this Tiny Desk Concert has quickly become iconic. Orcutt and this crew of ace players (Wendy Eisenberg, Ava Mendoza and Shane Parish) kill this session and I'd love to see you break it down in your inimitable way. I think you'd love the whole thing but start at 4:15 and check out this zoned out drone-y slice of experimental guitar bliss. And yes, those guitars all only have four strings.

Mateus just seems to get exponentially better all the time and has such a strong voice on the instrument; as recognisable as anyone. So fast and fluid, but melodic too.

Just came across this today (5/18/23) and was completely caught off guard by Keith's playing. I figured John would be the highlight here. How wrong I was.

Ok, so looks like this song has been requested 8 times - and so deserving! But I don't think any version can touch the recent show in Florida where DEREK TRUCKS was a guest! Nels + Derek - easily a top live solo for me played by two of the greatest living guitarists.

How does one improvise over a legendary song at such a level at only 17?!?!

Definitely worth listening to. Hope you enjoy.

Had never heard of Danno before, but I listen to everything WesternAf puts out and this is incredible. Amazing story telling and some cool stuff with the guitar as well

Originally recorded featuring Eric Clapton on lead guitar. https://youtu.be/YcY3FH208l8?t=139

This is by far one of my favorite songs of all time. Its what introduced me to Eric Clapton. My dad gave me the Phil Collins greatest hits album when I was like 12 and it still makes me cry to this day. The back and forth of Phil belting and the guitar solos in this song gives you goosebumps. This is what music is all about. This live version doesn't have Clapton, but man is it still amazing. Would love to see you break this down Michael, as I've always loved this song, but never known the WHY.

All the best,
Taylor

This song won Song of the Year in 2022 off of Bonnie's incredible vocal and gut-punch lyrics. But the song does not really work without this beautiful guitar work. No big riffs. No power chords. Just the incredibly understated melody that creates the spine through which Bonnie's vocals weave in and out. I thought it might be a nice departure to talk about the skill required to carry a song without needing to stand out with a big solo.

Chris Duarte is the most frenetic, controlled player I've ever seen. If you put SRV, Jimi, and Robben Ford together, plus a healthy dose of chaos, I think Chris is what you'd get. We all know this song, but he makes it feel completely new - please help make sense of the first solo in particular...and good luck.

Please! Terry Kath is easily becoming my favorite guitar player. Having the time of my life going down the Chicago rabbit hole, and would love to hear you break this down!
