Michael, I know you like dirty guitars and clean vocals. Joey is your man. Much love ...

You've turned me onto The Grateful Dead as well as John Prine with your reaction videos. I love this mashup. I play it against my house with a projector when we have music themed driveway projector parties. Neighbors (one of which is a dead head) eat it up.
Hello Michael! First of all I want to thank you for all your awesome content, and I love how you break down the whole performance and just not only the guitar specifics. This clip is an absolute MUST SEE, although it isn't the most complex guitar-song. The way this song is performed, with such big effects, insane vocal skills and stage presence, it really blew my mind. Enjoy!
Hey Michael,
Brand new member here! Looking forward to getting started. I was drawn to Guitar Gate because of your react videos. I've been playing for years and not really improving or getting anywhere. Your videos inspired me to want to not just play more, but also understand guitar.
I've wanted you to react to this one since I found your channel. Steve Vai pushed himself out of his comfort zone (no distortion, no whammy bar, and an S style guitar). He still brings the fireworks and doesn't disappoint. Lots of stuff going on with this one with a bunch of words bends. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one.
Singer/songwriter acoustic with an awesome voice that I think deserves some recognition. The song is about mental health and substance abuse. It really "struck a chord" with me. I'm 6 months sober and have been through the dark experiences she sings about.
I appreciate your channel. It inspired me to pick up my guitar after 8 years not touching it, and it's been a great outlet for me during sobriety.
joes doing a live stream !!
We all owe a debt to Townes - one of the greatest songwriters ever...

Really after watching your react to Jason Isbell's "If We Were Vampires" I immediately thought of this song, "45 Years", by Stan Rogers. I think he is one of the best song writers of all time, and probably most have never heard of him. I found a version live and then reading the caption realized this was recorded just days before he died in a plane crash in 1983. This live version has two songs, both great, but if you want to skip to 45 years it starts with commentary around the 5 min mark and song starts at 6:20.
The Del McCoury Band with special guest Karl Marx (actually, it's David Grisman on mandolin, but the resemblance is uncanny). It's a fairly simple three chord song, but the improvisation - especially in the mandolin duel with Grisman and Ronnie McCoury - goes down some really cool rabbit holes. Also, on guitar, is some classic stuff from the guy who gave a whole new flavor to bluegrass music with his signature ending of the standard Lester Flatt "G run" on an F note.
This is Nathaniel Rateliffs solo version to the song. I prefer him by himself for this particular song. Unbelievable voice and song. The guitar sounds so good to me for some reason and I have been trying figure out how to play it but i lack the musical knowledge. It would be a blessing to get any kind of help on breaking down the song.
After the great Melody Gardot video, I had to throw this back up for you, MIchael. Hope you enjoy! I was going to request it on Tuesday's show, but WSMFP!!!
plays pop songs in his own very amazing style
I stumbled upon Benjamin Tod going down the rabbit hole on the youtubes one night during a bad time in my life. His lyrics spoke to me, and although a different pain from what I was experiencing, you can hear his pain and experiences in his voice. Its not what I would call a technical guitar song but I find this song and his others to be quite moving.
This song is PEAK Jerry and absolutely awesome band. Changed my life!
Hi Michael,
here is a track of a former student of my guitar teacher.
It is a French band, they managed to make a mix between fusion, metal, progressive rock.
Just wanted to share this, as it is far from standard tracks we may hear over and over again.
hope you enjoy this !
all the best.
Laurent
As an Irish Man that has just recently signed up because of your YouTube videos, Iβd love to see your opinion on one of the greatest to come from the land of poets and scholars
First off, thanks for giving the band its due.
Of all the covers in Panicβs repertoire, Iβd contend, humbly, that Bowlegged Woman by Hot Tuna (Bobby Rush, originally) is among the most beloved. This particular one, on Halloween weekend of 2001 at UNO Lakefront Arena, is considered by many to be THE Bowlegged, or at least among the very best.
On a side note, I hope you get to see these guys in person once concerts are a reality again. If you do, find me in the sweet spot, and Iβll buy you a cold beer. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this one. Again, thanks for your enthusiasm and appreciation for the best damn band in the land - youβre in good company. Cheers.
Michael! Thanks for such an abundance of great content. Came across this tune recently and its nothing fancy but just so well written and a great example of how to do the simple stuff well. Would be great to hear your thoughts. The studio version is in G but he's tuned down half a step here and I've just got this stuck on repeat at the moment! Thanks man, Darrow.
I've always told myself, once I learn how to play this song in its entirety that I would be consider myself "good" at playing guitar. I'd love to see you break it down into its fundamentals, there seems to be a lot going on that it is hard for me to understand

Hey Michael, you always mention how you love details in lyrics. I stumbled across this song this past month and it is poetic. Not to mention, the artist is a pretty good fingerpicker. Enjoy!
