John Legend & The Roots cover the Bill Withers classic tune about a Vietnam War soldier who lost his arm. This track has always hit hard and this cover takes it to another place entirely. The Roots are just all class as always.

No, Mike. This is not a joke.
So often you talk about the "hook". Well, ole Sebastian here really was a master of the hook. As simple as it is, the melody comes in and repeats with the most gentle and emotive hooks.
I love the ascending and descending bass lines underneath the melody and would love to ride along with my guitar (not classical). How simple the dynamics are, but really add to the emotional content.
After 30 some years of noodling around on the guitar, I am going back to the basics with your instruction and getting an understanding of how music theory can actually be the saving grace of my attempts to play along with music (of all genres). Oh, how intimidating the term "music theory" was.
Can you take on this piece?
Best, Richard Dorbin
Itβs been a bit since Iβve posted a request video so here goes. I am requesting a reaction to David Mayfieldβs song βBreath of Loveβ from the 2014 Huntington Music and Arts Festival.
I have had the pleasure of seeing David 3 times, all in small room settings and I can say without any hesitation that he commands a room like no other. I would also put him in a very select group of my favorite songwriters of all time.
He is authentic, naturally funny, a brilliant bluegrass guitarist, accomplished mandolin player and carries it all with an effortless voice.
The David Mayfield Parade is wildly accomplished yet remains off of most listeners radar. That being said, he is a true musical treasure and I think you will enjoy this simple, well crafted tune. Hopefully you and the community will explore his other work. Heβs an artist that is easy to root for.
All the best,
Lucky Gallops
This much talent deserves much more recognition! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I wasn't able to find any Jeff Buckley posted here (which I find truly surprising), so I decided to fix that and post my favorite live performance of his song, Grace.
Normally Jeff's vocals get the attention, but he truly was an outstanding guitar player as well!
