Essential Minor 7th Melodies
Thanks for the lesson!
Summary:
- Playing chord progression C#, F, F#M, F#m
- Adding a layer section on top
- Playing over it
Key take aways:
- Creating a chord progression I'm not use (e.g. standard 1 4 5)
- Adding a layer is completely new to me and I can see it being a critical part of creating music
- Creating a theme within my improvisation that I reference throughout my playing. The theme is just a standard play on the arpeggios as the chords change

I always looked at playing 6ths (3rd on the G-string, Root on the E-string) in terms on an E-shaped chord. Whether the 3rd was a fret higher or even with the root is what made it major/minor.
Turns out playing from the perspective of an E-shaped bar chord⦠F (xxx3x1) and playing Dm (xxx5x5) are the SAME DAMN THING!!! F is Dm, Dm is F in both positions stated above. Maybe they are cousins? If not, they must be relatives.
Lights on. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. Sorry this took so lo g to connect.
