Biography
I’ve been playing guitar for about nine years now. I am mostly self-taught, but I've have had a few in-person lessons here and there.

I really enjoy Michael's teaching style and have been watching his videos for years now. For about 2-3 years, I did not practice much due to an injury and experienced a setback in my guitar playing. Now, I am determined to improve and take practicing seriously. My goal is to complete every lesson available on GuitarGate! Proud lifelong member.

You can't hear it in the video because the amp is mic'd, but I did record the looped portion to a metronome. Gotta work on my "vocabulary", i.e. lot of repetition in my improvising and not super interesting yet. But that will come with time and practice!

Playing some lead with a Yellow Ledbetter progression, which is E-B-A (I-V-IV). The solo on the record is all major pentatonic except for one or two notes. Then I did some improvising of my own at the end.

Been practicing this song recently! Think I might be a tad bit ahead of the beat in this video, but I think I can chock up some of that to red light syndrome, haha. That's when the pressure is on, you know?

Sort of skipping ahead as I'm still in the middle of the Level 2 course, so I haven't gotten into triads or modes yet. For now, I'm just improvising a little bit using the minor pentatonic (D minor during intro and verse, C minor during chorus). Started getting into the Dead when Mayer started playing for Dead and Co. and got hooked. Thanks for all the videos and lessons focused on this music, Michael. Looking forward to diving into these down the road.

88 BPM, Sequencing. C Major and F Minor. Messed up a little at the end! But overall feel pretty comfortable with alternate picking and sequencing. Got a lot of practice with that in the training course!

Great band keeping guitar-centric music alive and relevant. The ending is the best part!

Love this exercise. This will be great for warming up. I tried to mix things up a bit in the video. Metronome was set to 80 BPM at first, then bumped up to 160 BPM. Hoping this will sound a lot cleaner in the future, but this is a good start!

Got a lot of work to do with this one. I found that for me, it's difficult to get into a rhythm. My timing strays in the video a bit. That should get better as I do more repetitions of this exercise and become more comfortable with it.

This one was a challenge. Looking forward to working on this one as part of my warmup routine. Gotta clean up those transitions a bit.
