Hey Michael, I'd love to see you check out this live performance of Love is the Light by Big Big Train. The whole song is worth your time, it's got beautiful lyrics and a powerful performance from vocalist Alberto Bravin, just a gorgeous piece of music. Plus, how often do you see a rock band with a full brass section. If you want to jump ahead, the solos start at ~ the 3:20 mark. Nothing flashy, just some tasteful playing from Rikard SjΓΆblom and Maria Barbieri respectively (with a bonus violin lead in between the two).

This live Dream Theater video serves as a showcase for some of John Petrucci's finest soloing. The studio version of Hollow Years is a run of the mill ballad, but the live performance turns into a showcase. It starts with some lovely guitar/keys interplay a prelude, good use of the piezo in the guitar. The guitar solo partway through the song though is a jaw dropper, the perfect marriage of technique and feel. Stick around for some killer piano towards the end of the song!
