This has been the main thing I've been working on since Lyle's original lesson. Still working on getting the second solo up to speed, but just wanted to get something on camera and show where I'm at.

Just showing off some bends & slides. In the video, I asked about the best ways to prevent other strings from ringing out when releasing a high-bend. Any advice there would be appreciated.
As of recently, I've been trying to be more conscious of the degree to which I'm bending the string, making sure I'm hitting the right note. The mention in the video lesson of bending to the following note in the scale was something I understood, but it was nice being told that in plain English, as opposed to just feeling it out when I'm playing.

Using the G minor vamp track. Did a few takes late at night. Just decided to do a take where I would commit to some bigger moves. A lot of flubs, not super happy with the middle section, felt like I lost the backing track for a little bit. But I decided to upload this one because I liked that I found the same line at two different spots on the fretboard. Hoping to upload more videos soon.

I used the A Minor Jam Track from the previous lesson to show off the techniques from this lesson. I did a few takes late at night, and this one felt right to end on. There were some flubs here and there with the timing, but it felt good. The ability to play along with jam tracks/other musicians is the #1 thing I want to get out of this course, and this feels like a start. Something I should continue to work on for sure.

There's not much to say on this one. My previous knowledge of scales was just the basic pentatonic shapes. Now that we have gone over octaves and intervals and the CAGED system, I have a lot more background theory knowledge on scales, which is excellent.

These last few lessons have been a giant lightbulb in how I view the neck. Some shapes are still tricky to transition smoothly, but that will come with more time and practice. I also need to work on quickly recognizing which patterns correspond with which chord when I am playing higher up the neck. I know I have the tools to identify that now, but I need to continue thinking about this stuff to have that information come more immediately to me.

It's been too long! I'm still playing every day; I just have been away from these lessons. Since I last posted, I took time to mess around on bass and work on song covers. I also picked up this new Strat. My first guitar was a Squier Strat, and then I upgraded to the Jaguar. I'm psyched to have a Strat to play since giving up that old one.
Some of these shapes are tricky, but I'll keep drilling them. I am glad to have finally posted again; the website redesign looks great.

Playing the major scale in D, then F#. I definitely should continue practicing saying note names as I play; it came a little slower than expected.

Once again, it is nice to put names to things and reinforce topics that I briefly understood. Something I'm feeling a lot as I'm going through these lessons. First is a I IV V progression in the key of C, then a I VI II V progression in the key of E, gets a little sloppy towards the end. I'm finding that I get some "red light fever" when I start recording; I'm hoping that will go away the more I record myself.

Been about 2 months since finishing module 1. Finally, I had the time to start this module after a busy couple of months, eager to get through this. This lesson, in particular, helped fill many music theory knowledge gaps. Previously, all I knew about octaves were patterns 2&5.

Reverb and Gilmour are pretty synonymous for me, couldn't resist starting that way. These videos are making it pretty apparent that I should play with a metronome more.

Note names I was familiar with before, these interval names were completely new for me. Terms I've heard thrown around, but never really truly knew what they meant until now. I'll keep reviewing these until it becomes more second nature to recognize them.

First video for me, looking forward to working my way through the lessons as someone who has been playing guitar and took some lessons in the past, but looking for some kind of guide to connect a lot of the ideas/techniques for me.
