Michael, I went through all of the React Request videos and not a single Santana video could I find that you reacted to. This one is from August 16, 1969 - at Woodstock. Santana at the time were not well known and got on the bill thanks to insistence of the legendary promoter, Bill Graham. They had played many shows at his Fillmore West venue in San Francisco and Graham was eager to help them.
This video features a very early edition of the group with Gregg Rolie on organ, Michael Shrieve on drums who is only 19 at the time, Carlos himself was only 22 at the time. During this performance, Carlos played his Gibson SG through a borrowed solid-state amplifier. Their first album 'Santana' was released only a week later and went #4 by November of 1969 and spent two years on the Billboard charts. This is an energetic and exciting performance and I'd like to hear your thoughts on it. Thank you!
