Vibes for DAYS.
My name is Mark. I am from upstate NY...basically Canada. I have been playing guitar off and on for about 20 years. I love the guitar. I love learning new things on it, and exploring different ways of expressing different ideas and emotions/feelings through it.
I am deeply grateful to Michael for providing such a structured and supportive learning environment, and to the GG community for being so positive and supportive of one another in our journeys.

This feels like a party that I want to be at. Amelia's voice it's so hard when she comes in. I love Phil's arranging and use of space in his playing in general. He is not in a hurry to get anywhere, and really leans in at times. And his tone is just raunchy in this one! Cheers.

These guys are friends of mine, and I really enjoy what they are doing. I enjoyed the feel on this one, and thought you all might enjoy it as well.

I love The Wood Bros...I stumbled upon this one with Jerry Douglas. I could do with about 12 more solos from Jerry, but, beyond that--I thought you guys might enjoy this one.

This is one of the coolest things I have seen these guys do yet. It has this very hard minor kind of lick mixed in--Maybe harmonic, or something eastern sounding. These guys really move together beautifully as a unit on this performance.

Targeting scale tones within the Major (Ionian) Scale. I recorded a loop over Db5 and targeted 1-7 at the beginning. I threw in some b3, b6 and b7 at the end.

Slash Chord Exercise in B
I did: I IV/I I IV I V/I I...that kind of thing which sounds a lot easier than it is to write/read :)
Then:
vi V I
vi V IV with a dyad walk up that I never really nailed in the recording, but that is fun to mess with regardless.
I am not sure that I nailed the intention of the lesson with this video, but, I gave it a go.

Improvising over a I vi ii V in A using 6th and 9th voicings. Apologies for the neck dipping below sight at times.

Some kind of Am improvised thing. I tried to vary attack between Am and a C approach to get some different flavors in at different times throughout. Mostly it was a lot of fun and wah wah exploration.

Noodling around with some tapping attempts. I am not super familiar with this technique, but it was inspiring watching the lesson video for this.

Messing around with some pick/finger attacks. I play using my fingers a lot. But I have always felt a bit clumsy trying to incorporate the pick and fingers. After this lesson I really understand where it is a technique that could open up a lot of doors.

Wah Wah noodling. I love the wah. My sound quality isn't great on these videos, so it might not come through super well, but there were some fun tones happening.
I liked enough about this video to forego wrangling that group of 5 hairs who escaped and rebelled and rerecording it. :)

Blues Scale in 2 keys
I flubbed a couple of patterns the first time through...I tried to go a bit too quickly. I am used to the position of the b5 in patterns 2 and 4, but the position of the #4/b5 in different positions was throwing me off in certain patterns.
I am really enjoying going back through and being particular in my training with you, Michael.
I had teachers who showed me patterns 2 and 4, and "those are the usable ones" and maybe we will fill in the gaps, that kind of thing. So, it left a lot of gaps in my playing that I am just now really spending time to fill in. It feels really, really good. Thank you, Michael.

Ode to Hendrix, noodling over a "Remember" type progression using double stop approaches. It's so much fun.
