Jeff Beck has always been a favorite and I more recently started listening to John Mclaughlin (his stuff just didn't appeal to me in my youth). Some of the runs he's playing here are so outside. How would you apprthis, to try and direct what he's doing?

I've always been fascinated by his playing, but could never quite "get" what he was doing. Any insight into this solo would be greatly appreciated.
