Biography
38 years old when I signed up here. I have played guitar sporadically since I was a teenager, finally taking guided steps to actually learn some fundamentals . I really enjoy Michael's approach to teaching and his general attitude. Most of my practice/"training" is between 8-10 pm after little ones are in bed.. ..slowly but surely, one "chunk" at a time. I was just looking on here recently if there was any Sublime, and there's not! Then you played one on live traction.... I know you dig it. Here's one for you!

End of video got cut off, ran out of memory!

Not perfected, but felt good enough to post. Minors will take a little longer..

I saw an article on Pat's passing yesterday. Never had heard of him. "Jazz guitarist Pat Martino, a virtuoso twice over, dies at 77." I thought, "twice over?" what does that mean? I go on to read his story.. "in 1980 when Martino suffered the near-fatal seizure that left him to rebuild his memory and his career from scratch" "Following his surgery in 1980, Martino spent several years relearning the instrument, listening back to his own recordings and struggling with depression and the grueling process of recovering his skills." RIP Mr. Martino.

Thanks to Nicolai Planck for the tip on OpenShot! I probably spent more time figuring out this fun new tool doing video editing than I did working on the actual guitar playing... (and it shows) ha. I have been groovin' to the beat with a looper pedal too, but the video capture is a whole other animal. I am just beginning Level 3 so I feel pretty good about fiddling around the pentatonic notes/scales in all 5 shapes, ....getting into arpeggios and full scales soon.

Could have sounded nicer with the pattern 4 G and pattern 2 E minor on the loop, but went with pattern 5 and 1 for closest moves practice aka "not as easy patterns practice."

sorry this one is kinda long - I'll try and get quicker with the videos. ....but when I rush myself with the recording business, I tend to screw up. 1st video lesson on the new (to me) tube amp - my first one! I am feeling some great accomplishment after this lesson.. I will absolutely keep at these as I go check out some more lessons. - Andy

Watching Michael in this lesson when he does his little hand gesture at 5:23 after his funky jam says "right?" is like watching Yngwie Malmsteen in this video lesson at 18:12: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFnSoQ3BqU8 =)

This took me quite a while to get to this point to be able to make this video but wanted to make sure I got a handle on it before moving on. I can sense the lessons to come, and can feel how important this particular step was to spend time on, and will continue to be.

How has nobody posted Yngwie Malmsteen yet!? I don't necessarily care that this particular video is reacted to - any of his would be fine. There are some "lesson" ones of his too.. which are kind of funny to watch 'cause they are so advanced and he's like "see, you just do this... no problem..." and proceeds to rip it up. So good. Also plenty of live concert options.

Pattern 3 both major and minor probably the trickiest for me, no matter the neck position. Took forever to get this far... Going to move on to next lesson with understanding that this one is crucial. Oh and I need to go back down the neck too..

Oh ska...love(ed) me some Sublime in the day. Of course Bob and others were their inspirations.
