Saw your react video of Little Blue and Jacob's 5 string guitar. This is a pretty long video, but here Jacob does a deep dive with Paul Davids into the origins and reasons for the 5 string he had Taylor make for him. Plus another wicked 5 string electric that looks like it weighs maybe 9oz. Thought you'd find it super interesting. I know I did. Favorite quote, "plus, look how many fingers I have!"

So glad you discovered Bahamas! One of my favorite artists of all time.

Here's a live performance of "Show Me Naomi" from a few years ago with the full band. As usual, Afie's composition is perfection. Rich in tone, but nothing gratuitous. Everything just fits. He's an incredible guitarist, but he NEVER overshadows the song. Bandmates performances are great too. Wait for the high note harmonies around the 3min mark... Super fun to watch.

I highly recommend going down a Bahamas Youtube rabbit hole. His Live to Tape sessions during lockdown are great.

Hope you enjoy.

From Bahamas' Live to Tape series during the pandemic (Bahamas + guest musicians playing from simultaneously from different studios). Just amazing to watch.

Afie Jurvanen (Bahamas) is an awesome guitarist. And I know you already like Madison Cunningham. Enjoy

Micheal,
Happy belated Fatherโ€™s Day!

My dad died suddenly of a brain aneurysm almost 10 years ago at my house. We were very close. Heโ€™s always heavy on my mind on Fatherโ€™s Day. He taught me to play guitar many years ago (I'm still not very good but getting better every day!). He and I always shared a special bond over music. Something I now share with my kids. His all time favorites were Dylan, Petty, the Stones, Steve Earle, John Prine and Bonnie Raitt. He also said Alison Krauss had the most beautiful voice of anyone ever.

My family and I are traveling across the country in an RV for the next several months. Weโ€™re currently just outside a little place called Midway, Utah. On Sunday we went out to lunch for Fatherโ€™s Day at a little restaurant downtown. As weโ€™re wrapping up this unassuming musician came onstage and started playing guitar and singing. She floored me. She opened with Steve Earle, played a couple Dylan & Petty tunes. Then we asked here to play some originals. We ended up staying another 2 hours and she closed the set (unprompted) with Angel from Montgomery. I couldn't believe it. My dad would have LOVED to hear her sing.

We got to talking after her set and her story is very touching. Single mom trying to make it in a TOUGH industry. She has a beautiful gift and just needs some luck. It being Fatherโ€™s Day and the fact that she played like 7 of my dad's favorite songs and sounds like the second coming of Alison Krauss I felt compelled to help her out anyway I can.

Growing up my dad always gave us $2 bills for good luck whenever he came across one. I still had one of those bills in my wallet. It has served me well in my life. After the set I gave her that $2 bill and told her I hoped it would do the same for her. Now I'm writing you hoping to kickstart a little luck on her behalf.

As you know connections are everything in any industry. I donโ€™t know if you can help her in that regard or not, but if nothing else maybe sheโ€™ll get a few more fans.

Hereโ€™s her website: http://michellemoonshine.com/

I know you want to limit it to one request per week, but I couldn't resist this one. Gotta get some Black Keys reactions.

Kind of shocked that you haven't done a reaction video for Dan Auerbach or the Black Keys. Here's a low key Tiny Desk concert with a couple other legends, Pat McLaughlin and Russ Pahl. Plus a very cool intro to blind blues singer Robert Finley (about halfway through).
