Hey Michael, Hope this finds you well! Given our rich history with the GuitarGate community and our brand new studio release “Waterline” I thought it could be time to review a SPACEFOLKS video?! This was recorded on a local radio program Rock98.com. It would be a tremendous honor to get your (and the community’s) reaction. As always, all the best!

EGGY - Boom or Bust Jam from Brighton Music Hall 11/16/2023.
I can't even wrap my head around what is happening here. Some sort of arpeggio pedal....
Take a stab at it!

I’ve never steered you guys wrong before and this time is no different. I’m a week removed from seeing Doom Flamingo (Kanika Moore on vocals and Umphrey’s bassist) and being a longtime fan of TAUK (particularly Isaac on drums) the TAUK MOORE project is a grand slam. This is power; raw power. Just incredible on every level. Give it a whirl! All the best - Lucky Gallops

REACTED TO

Having followed the jamband world for the vast majority of my life I can say with confidence that what took place at Radio City Music Hall last night may have been one of the scene’s most historic moments. Since discovering Goose about 2 years ago and diving into their work with both feet I quickly formed the opinion (as many others) that Goose is the “third coming”. The future of the scene; standing on the shoulders of the Grateful Dead and Phish. Jerry Garcia passed away in the Summer of 1995 so the opportunity for him to sit-in with Phish never took place. (Not sure he would have entertained the idea anyway). Trey Anastasio did play with the Grateful Dead for a few shows but what took place last night was a monstrous event as Goose is smoking hot in their ascension right now. Trey sitting-in with them is historic. This video is long, featuring performances of Hungersite off the brand new Goose album Dripfield and crowd favorite Arcadia. Please pick some sample of this 51 minute video to dive into. Thank you as always for your continued passion for music. Hey hey, my my, rock n roll will never die.
All the best,
Lucky Gallops

I know, I know, I know. Just returned from the Sweetwater 420 festival with Goose, String Cheese, Trey Anastasio and JRAD. I know this recommendation may forever damage my jamband “street cred” but this performance is so powerful that I had to recommend that you see it. Talent is talent; music is music; Power is Power. Enjoy!

A wild departure from what I usually share but this one caught me so off guard that I had to send in a react request. We all know the Scorpions for “We will rock you” and many remember their success with “Winds of Change” but I had no idea that they got down like this! Released in 1977, this track is one I think you and the community will find surprising. All the best and happy holidays!

I would like to think I’ve never led you in the wrong direction with my “you’ve gotta hear this” recommendations so here’s one from the String Cheese Incident. Don’t recall you ever tackling String Cheese but they deserve some love. They offer a welcomed “tribal” vibe that seems to get lost a bit in the modern jamband scene. Hopefully this video sheds a bit of light on why they have been so successful. Super fun show. Hope you enjoy it! Today’s my birthday so I thought I would offer this one up. All the best.

Hi Michael,
I know that “the GOOSE is out of the bag” with this band. We all know at this point that these guys have the magic, the chops and all of the qualities to be huge very soon.
My wife and I just attended Floydfest this week and they absolutely crushed the Saturday night late set.
We got to meet them at an autograph signing and they were super humble and genuinely friendly.
I’ve requested Goose on the livestreams lots of times and you’ve always been gracious enough to play them. The mods giving me their picks should be applauded as well. One criticism I would see in the chat is that “it’s just noodling” or “there’s no melody” so I think this video choice should remedy that. This is a beautifully composed slower song with some nice jam at the end. The song combined with the magic of people returning to live music for the first time in two years combined with the beauty of the blue ridge mountains made for a very special night.
I hope you enjoy it and hope to see a reaction video. As always thank you for providing so many of us the chance to channel our love of music into such a positive community. All the best.

It’s been a bit since I’ve posted a request video so here goes. I am requesting a reaction to David Mayfield’s song “Breath of Love” from the 2014 Huntington Music and Arts Festival.
I have had the pleasure of seeing David 3 times, all in small room settings and I can say without any hesitation that he commands a room like no other. I would also put him in a very select group of my favorite songwriters of all time.
He is authentic, naturally funny, a brilliant bluegrass guitarist, accomplished mandolin player and carries it all with an effortless voice.
The David Mayfield Parade is wildly accomplished yet remains off of most listeners radar. That being said, he is a true musical treasure and I think you will enjoy this simple, well crafted tune. Hopefully you and the community will explore his other work. He’s an artist that is easy to root for.
All the best,
Lucky Gallops

I believe GuitarGate lesson 1 heavily recommends having a dedicated practice space. I have that space. Also trying to get my son to eat his snack. Remade the backing track with my “one man band” pedalboard. Using the same vocal effects pedal Rick from Goose uses. Thank you Michael and everyone in the community. Enjoy

Hey there Michael,
After last night’s livestream I was in utter shock that the works of Mr. Hayes Carll had somehow never made their way to your listening collection. Before Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson made their rise to the top of the Americana/Country/RocknRoll mountaintop Hayes was pumping out some of the best songwriting ever heard. Unfortunately his rise hasn’t been as meteoric as others but he absolutely deserves to be on the Mt. Rushmore of the modern alt-country singer/songwriters.
His album KMAG YOYO (military abbreviation for Kiss my ass good-bye, you’re on your own) was released in 2011 and I consider it the masterpiece of his career thus far. A must listen.
The video I’ve linked here is my favorite song off of the album, guaranteed to make an appearance in my playlist any night I’ve had a few too many. Absolute gold. There are other burners on the album including Stomp & Holler, Another Like You, soulful ballads like Chances Are and the title track. This album is one of my favorites of all time and I hope the video does it justice. Hayes Carll, you are my spirit animal. (You and Dickey Betts).
Thank you always Michael for everything that you do. Enjoy the song!

Michael, We have all thoroughly enjoyed watching your dive into the jamband scene. Somehow I don’t recall seeing this phenomenal band come across your radar. Leftover Salmon is considered the pioneers of JamGrass music. Having put in more than 30 years of explosive bluegrass/jamband fusion I beg you to do a reaction video of this. Featuring founding members Vince Herman on vocals/acoustic guitar, Drew Emmitt on vocals/mandolin/fiddle/electric guitar and fairly recent addition Andy Thorn on banjo. Simply stated your dive into the jamband world is incomplete without at least a taste of Leftover Salmon. I have seen them at least a dozen times dating back to 1995 and I never miss the chance to see them when they come close. Incredible energy, outstanding musicianship and a remarkable vibe makes them one of the greatest, somehow still largely unknown bands on the planet. This is their cover of Reuben’s Train which was written decades before we were born so I think it’s safe.
Thank you for all you are doing for musicians aspiring to get better and for providing a brief getaway from all that is going on in the world with your live-streams and reaction videos. Now, may I present....LEFTOVER SALMON!!!

Don’t let the unpronounceable name fool you! This trio out of Texas lays down some very original sounds. The drummer has remarkable timing, the bass is incredible and the guitarists “earworms” and tone give this band a unique and refreshing sound. I’d love to get a reaction to this tune. Keep up the great work!

After years of playing in a legit touring band for years and a hiatus I decided to jump into the solo/looping/jamband world. Here’s where I’m at. My 11 year old son shot the video so I apologize if it’s shaken...enjoy!

If you have another GOOSE review planned in the near future please look no further than this wild version of “Hot Tea” from Jan 25th, 2020. There have been lots of jambands come and go over the years but these guys seem to have the total package. They check all the boxes. I haven’t been this excited to see where a band goes in a very long time. Careful...they’re sneaky good. Thank you for all of your good work!

I mention Julian Lage on the YouTube chat a few weeks ago. Here is a 3:30 video from the same listening room where he was playing “I’ll be seeing you” in Los Angeles. Julian was a child prodigy who performed at the Grammys at age 12 and was a member of the Stanford Jazz Workshop at age 15. He has been nominated for multiple Grammys and has awards and degrees from numerous highly accredited institution. Simply stated, he’s a guitar genius and his command of all levels of the instrument are stunning to me. I’m enjoying the Cornell 77’ videos (leave room for that Dancin’ in the Street) but if you have under 4 minutes to spare give this a listen. All the best.

Hey Michael. It was awesome to speak with you via the YouTube chat a few weeks ago. So here’s a little clip of my soloing over a loop I made. I feel like I got all the ingredients (tone, instruments, understanding of structure and a good ear). If you would, take a listen and tell me From your perspective one thing you believe I should focus on improving. Thanks. All the best. Lucky Gallops/ Brad Lackey

May I recommend a follow up Goose review? Here’s a live video of “Tumble” from February of this year in San Francisco. It’s a bit longer, nearly twenty minutes but this is a song where they really “show their tails” as the old bluegrass pickers would say. This band has all the makings of something really special. Great songwriting, great vocals, loads of little hooks and tricks. They’re sneaky good! Enjoy!!
