Not much to say just a good jam

such a well known and much loved guitar classic, interesting to hear such a dynamic cover that retains so much of the original whilst allowing the personality of Martin and Josh to shine through. Also, that rhythm section is on point wow!

An original song I wrote in Nashville.

If That's Okay

When the time is right I’ll fly away
I’ll Leave the nest

Even if the water’s cold I’d dive right in
No regrets

When the ball is in my court
I’ll play the game
and strive to win

Even if the love is gone I’ll still be here
Until the end, Until the end

Well I don’t know what to do
And I don’t know what to say
So I’ll sing and play for you,
If that’s okay

What if all the songs I write for you
Don’t make it real?

And if all of my love is not enough
Will u still heal?

When the light has gone
I’ll try to close my eyes
And dream again

What if I was to die young, without a care
but I can’t quit, no I can’t quit…

Well I don’t know what to do
And I don’t know what to say
So I’ll sing and play for you
If that’s okay

There’s a life out there for me
And I’m hiding in my mind
But l do the best I can
To get me through the nite
Well I don’t know what to do
And I don’t know what to say
So I’ll sing and play for you
Oh I’ll sing and play for you
Oh I’ll sing and play for you
If that’s okay

Michael, granted, I’m new to the guitar but I’m just wondering what it is about these ominous beginning chords that draws me into this song? Cause once I hear them, I’m hooked and they got me. It seems like those ominous chords allow the songs dissonance to sound…cool and intriguing. Curious to hear your response.

One of my favorite Genesis songs. Steve Hackett was so underrated among guitar players of the early 70s. I would be grateful if you could give this one a reaction Michael. Thanks for the site, the lessons, the awesome community, and all the great videos!
