Classically schooled, folk influenced British vocalist Olivia Chaney is a delight. I’ve been to see her live 3 times. Her music healed me through my divorce and kept Me grounded and inspired. When not performing she is also a very fun person. Would LOVE to know a bit more about the structure of her music and how it’s put together.. Cheers Richard UK

Micheal,
Happy belated Father’s Day!

My dad died suddenly of a brain aneurysm almost 10 years ago at my house. We were very close. He’s always heavy on my mind on Father’s Day. He taught me to play guitar many years ago (I'm still not very good but getting better every day!). He and I always shared a special bond over music. Something I now share with my kids. His all time favorites were Dylan, Petty, the Stones, Steve Earle, John Prine and Bonnie Raitt. He also said Alison Krauss had the most beautiful voice of anyone ever.

My family and I are traveling across the country in an RV for the next several months. We’re currently just outside a little place called Midway, Utah. On Sunday we went out to lunch for Father’s Day at a little restaurant downtown. As we’re wrapping up this unassuming musician came onstage and started playing guitar and singing. She floored me. She opened with Steve Earle, played a couple Dylan & Petty tunes. Then we asked here to play some originals. We ended up staying another 2 hours and she closed the set (unprompted) with Angel from Montgomery. I couldn't believe it. My dad would have LOVED to hear her sing.

We got to talking after her set and her story is very touching. Single mom trying to make it in a TOUGH industry. She has a beautiful gift and just needs some luck. It being Father’s Day and the fact that she played like 7 of my dad's favorite songs and sounds like the second coming of Alison Krauss I felt compelled to help her out anyway I can.

Growing up my dad always gave us $2 bills for good luck whenever he came across one. I still had one of those bills in my wallet. It has served me well in my life. After the set I gave her that $2 bill and told her I hoped it would do the same for her. Now I'm writing you hoping to kickstart a little luck on her behalf.

As you know connections are everything in any industry. I don’t know if you can help her in that regard or not, but if nothing else maybe she’ll get a few more fans.

Good Harvest is a Scandinavian duo with very tight vocal harmonies reminiscent of Indigo Girls. This arrangement is closer to Mitchell's original piano version than the CSN&Y version but seems inspired by both.
