Lead 101 - Major Pentatonic Scale
As discussed previously, the major pentatonic scale is your basic scale for playing over major chords, or I, IV, and V chords.
It’s the brightest, most consonant sound you will have at your disposal.
It’s important to try all five patterns of the scale and try it in many different keys.
Practice it with a metronome at first, and once you have the shapes down, begin to work out each of the shapes and find some licks that sound good.
Practice with the jam tracks and get a feel for the major pentatonic scale.
Attached are the 5 patterns of the major pentatonic scale. For this video let’s see them in 2 different keys!
