Improvising 305 - The Minor Scale

Let's look at a I IV V in key of A minor. Like with the major scale, you can play either the full A minor scale over the whole progression, the individual minor pentatonic scales over the A, D, and E chords, or hopefully, a combination of both. 

To review: the main difference between playing pentatonics and full scales is the presence of half steps. Pentatonics are easy to finger, and easy on the ear, but half steps give your music color and character and they are great intervals for connecting chord tones. 

The goal is to become comfortable with going back and forth between the home scale (full minor scale from the tonic) and the pentatonic and arpeggios of each of the individual chords. 

Give it a shot, and remember, listen for the chord tones.
