Parts Of The Guitar

While acoustic and electric guitars have differences, both are constructed with the same three basic parts - the head, the neck, and the body.   While it’s very easy to see in the video, here are the essential parts of each:

• Head Stock
  • Tuners
  • Tuning pegs
  • Nut
• Neck
  • Nut
  • Fretboard
  • Frets
• Body
  • Bridge
    • Floating (bridge moves with a tremolo bar)
    • Non-floating (bridge is fixed to the guitar)
  • Sound hole (acoustic)
  • Pickups (electric)
  • Pickup selector (electric)
    • Varies from guitar to guitar, but generally bridge, neck or combo position
  • Volume / tone knobs (electric)
  • Input jack (electric)
