Albert King
Albert King was a BAD man. He was a monster of the minor pentatonic scale, and his signature sound comes from his incredible ability to utilize both micro 1/4 tone bends and massive 2+ step bends that sound literally limitless.
His approach is so fundamental to blues vocabulary, that we refer to his favorite spot on the neck as the Albert King Blues Box. This minor pentatonic shape is a piece of pattern 5, and is often played as an extension of pattern 4. Practice bending the notes on the 1st string first, but all strings are kosher if you can push em’ enough :)
Note: He played upside down and in a strange tuning that known really seems to agree on, but this “box” is adapted for standard tuning.
