8 Bar Form
The other main blues form is the 8 bar blues. This, just like the 12 bar blues, is a looping progression but it has a different feel to it. It’s slick and jumpy. Furthermore, 8 bar blues have quite a lot of variations. Because of this, there aren’t specific names like quick change and slow change - but you’ll get the hang of them no problem.
Again, these are played with Dominant 7 chords, major chords, the shuffle, etc.
The two most common examples are what I call "Quick V" and "Starting on the IV." Download the PDF for the charts.
