Davy Knowles is an incredible guitarist, and his performance here of his song Coming Up For Air is top notch, you have to check this out! He does some really cool techniques in his solo for this song too! Please give it a go, you won't be disappointed! Thank you!

Locked in the Trunk of a Car - The Tragically Hip with Dan Aykroyd on harmonica

Rock

The best Canadian rock band ever doing an iconic tune with a lot of cool unique details and a great showing of Gord Downie and his magic.

"Flâneur" - Plini with Anomalie + Jared Yee

Plini is always fun to listen to but this particularly caught my attention with band dynamics and the interplay between all of the musicians, particularly between the keys and sax. Love to hear Michael break this down for us!

"Cassie" - Flyleaf (The Columbine Song)

A great song about something very real to people today as it was when it happened. This song wasn't a hit single with a video but one of those slow burners that the fans adore. The singer wrote this song in response to the school shooting at Columbine. It was hard finding a live video of this song with any sort of quality in the audio. Even though this clip doesn't have the famous story with it, I think you can put the pieces together. I love the energy the band and the crowd give each other. 🎸

Little Barrie - Why Don't You Do It? - Live Paris 2008

Rock

Little Barrie performs one of my favorite songs ever live in Paris. Barrie Cadogan's lead guitar is so smooth and unique, one of the most underrated guitarists around.

One of the finest riffs of the 21st century

Rock

Great crowd, amazing energy, wonderful build of tension leading in to the explosion of that riff!

They've played this song from 1986 many different ways, with many different guitar solos near the end, however, this doesn't sound quite like a standard guitar solos, as I feel it's got some creativity and flavor to it. Would love your take on the tune.

Van Halen Unchained Live @ Oakland Colliseum, June 12th 1981

Rock

My favorite performance by Van Halen, the whole band is firing on all cylinders, in the prime of their career, but Eddie is especially incredible.

This song always motivates me, and the guitar on it is aggressive, cool, crunchy, technical, and fun all in one song, a combination nobody really pulls off in the way Eddie did, to me. Way better than Eruption, Jump or any of the other great songs EVH played IMO.

Major Pentatonics and Arpeggios

I improvise in D flat over a I-IV-V progression by spelling out each of the chord through arpeggiation and following it with a short phrase in the corresponding pentatonic scale. In other news, I am getting ready for my summer camp, which is about music (I interrupt GuitarGate for ... more guitar, including 2 weeks at Berklee).

Layla- Trey with Tedeschi Trucks

Rock

This is one of my favorite performances ever. This whole concert changed my life. To have two of my heroes perform my favorite song together was a dream that came true. Trey and Derek's solo are so amazing!

I just want to say that Michael has also done this. The whole community has changed my life. As I am prepping myself for college I can't say thank you enough to everyone, especially Michael. I plan to get a Music Ed. degree and one day be like my hero, Michael Palmisano!
